Bandung - Not the drink

Okies... my previous post wasn't saved in time. DAMN. Really frustrating... here i am happily typing away, lost in my tots and just wanna quickly blog everything, the next time i know, I am logged out and wat i had typed in the past 30 min was gone!!!

-------------------------saving---------------------------------------------------

Here's a trip up to Bandung. Its the 3rd largest city after Jakarta, with a population of about 3 million, located abt 2 hrs drive away (taking the toll and assuming no traffic jam... else it will take really really really long...)

A friend recommended a few places to chill ...

1. At Dagu Area,
a. Sierra
b. The Valley
c. The View
d. starting with the letter M... cannot rem the name

2. At Daun Area
a. Kampung Daun
b. The Peak.

Well, Bandung is a mountainous area, so these exotic eating places are right on top of hills. Excellent scenery of the town, plus the wonderful cooling weather of Bandung, its really worth the 20min drive up these hills.

Here's some photo of Kampung Daun:

A little getaway hut...

The night before, we were at Sierra. The night scenery + the cool weather of Bandung, made the 20min drive up the mountain worthwhile. The food isn't the most spectacular, people usually go up to have a drink and chill and at the same time enjoy the view of the little kampung lights beneath us.

At the meal, there were 4 Indonesians and I'm the only Singaporean. Of the 2 Indo, there are 2 Bandungnese and 2 Jakartians (wonder if tt's how u call them, anyways we did have a short debate on how to call them but there was no conclusion, so i shall just call them Bandungnese and Jakartians, sounded ike Martians .. haha!!) and we were just enjoying our meal. Somehow, someone mention a joke abt how small singapore us, and there is no need for National Service (NS), afterall a single bomb wil just destroy the whole country.

Gosh.. wat naive view!!! As a Singapore, a patriot, an ambassador when I'm out of my beloved island country, I HAD TO DEFEND SINGAPORE!!! It was a little interesting debate, sometimes mentioning abt how patriotic and heroic Indonesians were during WWII, and how she had decline after tt. How Suharto era was actually a much stable era, to a joke tt if all the Chinese in China were to spit on Singapore, we will be flooded... No discussion of politics, sheez..i dun wanna end up in jail. Anyways, it ended with a little National Education tt i learnt durning reservist. How Singapore defences had shifted from the doctrine of being a "poccupine" (colaterral damage) to being a "dolphin" (deterrence and diplomacy, making friends with all our neighbours).
Better think twice before attacking Singapore... haha... =)

It was an enjoyable nite at Bandung, never knew such nice places exists. =)
